8K Atmos AV Receiver - There is no stopping Denon when it comes to pushing technological boundaries. With a feature list that is truly unheard of at this price the AVRX 2700 is nothing short of a bargain.
OUR VERDICT - Due to the huge success of the almighty AVR-X2500 & AVRX 2600H there has been much speculation and hype as to whether the new AVRX 2700H will be much of an improvement, after all 'When it isn't broke, don't try to fix it'. That phrase is not in Denon's ethos and its a good job too as the all new AVR-X2700H is something quite spectacular with all the original features and more. What's even more fascinating is that they have managed to do all this and keep the price down.
So what can you expect and what has changed from the AVRX 2600 ? Quite a lot would be the answer to that but we believe that the main features that will grab your attention are the latest HDMI video technologies such as 8K/60Hz, 4K/120Hz pass-through, eARC and HDCP2.3 Support. I can hear you saying what is eARC ? Enhanced Audio Return Channel is the next generation of ARC. It’s a feature that was implemented in the HDMI 2.1 specification but until now rarely used by manufacturers. The main benefit of eARC is a big boost in bandwidth and speed. This allows you to send higher-quality audio from your TV to your AV receiver. There’s scope for eARC to deliver up to 32 channels of audio, including eight-channel, 24bit/192kHz uncompressed data streams at speeds of up to 38Mbps. This means all those high bitrate formats currently available on Blu-ray discs, 4K Blu-rays and some streaming services – Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio and object-based formats such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X – will all be compatible.
To allow this high amount of data to be transmitted HDCP 2.3 had to be introduced which allows the AV Receiver to decode this mass of information. Something that has been carried over from the AVRX 2600 is the 'Alexa' feature, the duties of an AV Receiver would normally include enhancing your audio visual experience but Denon have been working extremely hard to make your experience easier and smarter. The Alexa feature means that there will be no more scrambling for the remote to adjust the volume or change the input so you can play your favourite game on your console, just let your voice be the remote....simple.
Denon have also included their proprietary Heos wireless multiroom, hence the 'H' in the model number. Now your living room cinema can be part of your whole house audio system thanks to Heos, this also means that if you have other Heos devices, such as the Superb Heos 1, around your home you can enable TV sound grouping and listen to the football game around the house. The AVRX2700H also features Dolby Atmos, 7 channels of power, 4K UHD HDMI's, Bluetooth, WIFI, Audyssey MultEQ Editor App and so much more. In short the AVR-X2700H has everything you could ever want combined with legendary Denon sound, we believe that this is another award winner in the making. - Thoroughly Recommended.
Power, Precision & Detail
Featuring discrete high-current amplifiers on all channels, the AVR-X2700H delivers high-power performance at 150W per channel (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 1% 1ch Drive). Low impedance drivers provide operational stability for a wide range of speakers for balanced, tonal sound. The AVR-X2700H supports three-dimensional sound formats Dolby Atmos, Dolby Atmos Height Virtualisation Technology, DTS:X and DTS Virtual:X, plus an HDMI section with HDCP 2.3 support and advanced video processing with 8K upscaling for HDMI sources.
Dolby Atmos - Simplified
Immerse yourself in multi-dimensional audio with Dolby Atmos. Set up Dolby Atmos with a 5.2.2 surround sound speaker system using Dolby Atmos elevation speakers, or dedicated overhead speakers, for the ultimate home cinema experience. Dolby Atmos Height Virtualisation Technology provides immersive audio without height channels, creating virtual height effects in a 7.2, 5.2 or 2.2 speaker arrangement.
Tuned Just For You
Every listening room has its own characteristics and acoustical problems. That’s why Denon equipped the AVR-X2700H with the advanced Audyssey MultEQ XT automatic room acoustic correction system. Via the supplied measuring microphone and mic stand, Audyssey MultEQ measures all the speakers in your home cinema during setup, including the subwoofer, and then generates multiple high precision DSP room acoustic correction filters which together provide smoothest and most natural tonal balance, regardless of the brand or model of the various speakers. Audyssey Dynamic Volume smoothes out annoying jumps in volume (such as TV commercials), letting you listen at lower levels and still enjoy clear dialogue, music and sound effects. Audyssey Dynamic EQ provides precision tonal tailoring for full range clarity at any listening level.
Audyssey MultEQ Editor App - With this comprehensive app, you can harness the power of Audyssey MultEQ to take total control of the way your home cinema sounds. Go ‘under the hood’, view and adjust settings for detailed tuning, customise the sound more precisely to the specific problems in your room, and tailor the sound to your personal preferences. The app is available for purchase from the Apple AppStore, Google Play or the Amazon appstore.
Wireless Streaming
Featuring Bluetooth and dual band Wi-Fi wireless connectivity, the AVR-X2700H is equipped with an advanced dual diversity antenna RF transceiver system for robust and error-free streaming, even in congested environments. Connect to the internet through your home Wi-Fi network (or with a hard-wired connection via the RJ-45 Ethernet LAN port) and enjoy all the music options the HEOS technology offers, including thousands of internet radio stations around the world. With AirPlay 2 you can enjoy listening to your favourite tracks wirelessly from your favourite iOS devices including the iPod touch, iPhone and iPad.
