Subwoofer - If you are looking to add some bass foundation to your home cinema or hifi system the the Bronze W10 6G from Monitor Audio fits the bill nicely thanks to its improved design and adjustable EQ.
OUR VERDICT - The wait is over, the highly anticipated new Monitor Audio Bronze 6G range has arrived. Rather than take the existing Bronze range and tweak things Monitor Audio have gone all in and built a new speaker from the ground up. We believe this is mainly due to the success and performance of the Monitor range, the performance was that good that the difference between the outgoing Bronze range and the Monitor range was minimal.
Let's face it, no home cinema is complete without a dedicated subwoofer. It's the only way to experience the dynamic impact of your movies or games. The new Bronze W10 subwoofer is part of the all new Bronze 6G range from Monitor Audio and has been tweaked inline with the new ranges performance.
If you have been researching subwoofers you will know that they usually fall within two categories, Ported and Sealed. Generally a ported sub will dig deeper but tends to have less clarity and punch whereas a sealed subwoofer tends to have more clarity and punch but less depth.
The new Bronze W10 actually sits between the two types and uses something called an ABR which basically gives you the best of both worlds meaning you should experience depth with added punch and texture. Whether you choose to use the W10 with your existing system or pair it with the all new Monitor Audio Bronze Range then you can rest assured that it will add that extra bass depth you have been craving. Highly Recommended.
The W10 subwoofer has been designed to compliment the rest of the new Bronze range aesthetically, with it’s compact cabinet hosting the same contemporary design. It is available in four colour finishes to suit both classic and modern home interiors. Choose from a sleek urban grey, white, walnut and black finishes. The rigid MDF construction and rubber feet ensure vibrations are kept to a minimum and performance is improved.
The new long throw dished C-CAM driver is employed to deliver a controlled, deep, and stable low frequency response. To improve bass response an Auxillary Bass Radiator (ABR) is featured on the underside of the subwoofer. Utilising an ABR means that the subwoofer features characteristics from both sealed and ported types which promises depth with increased clarity and punch. To provide the bass depth movies and games require Monitor Audio have created an efficient Class D amplifier with switch mode power supply that delivers an impressive 220 watts of power to any size home cinema system.Power & Precision
The Bronze W10 features an adjustable EQ switch allowing you to choose between three sound modes. The three modes ( Movie, Music & Impact ) each have a different degree of impact, slam and depth meaning you can tailor the W10 to your own personal taste.
To allow you to play your movies at entertaining volumes Monitor Audio have added an advanced DSP ( Digital Signal Processor ) as well as advanced signal limiters which have been designed to allow the W10 to perform at its best regardless of volume.
